Twitter has announced that it is easing its 140-character limit for tweets, allowing users to add links, attachments and other features within their messages. NDTV reports that Twitter product manager Todd Sherman said names in replies, and media attachments such as photos, videos, and polls will no longer be counted toward the character limit. The platform also added a feature that enables users to retweet or “quote” their own messages.
The company may also soon roll out an automatic Night Mode UI for its Android app, that will swap the white background for a darker appearance. According to NDTV, the UI, which sits on top of a Material Design overhaul of the app that has been in testing since last month, is said to switch automatically at night and come back to the standard white background UI during the day.
