There are numerous apps available across India, aimed at making women feel safe in their surroundings, while also being able to get help in emergencies at the touch of a button. The Times of India reports that now, the Mobile Standards Alliance of India (MSAI), in association with the Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust, will be launching another safety app for women called ‘I Feel Safe,’ on August 9. Initially available on Google Play, the app – that is said to work online and offline – will later also be available for iOS.
I Feel Safe is great for emergencies since it requires the woman to just long press the power button, thus sending out a distress call to the nearest police station, and to her loved ones. The app even has the ability to track a user’s location and mode of movement/transport.
