If you think technology hasn’t got a solution to your old-school techniques of measuring objects with a tangled tape and a chipped ruler, think again. A company called InstruMMents has introduced a revolutionary new system that measures like a magic wand. Called ‘InstruMMents 01,’ the tech involves a hybrid measuring device and pen (there are also pencil and stylus versions) that gauge dimensions of objects by pointing at them. Engadget reports that the incredible system even works on 3D surfaces, so curves and contours aren’t off-limits.
A stunning example of IoT, the 01 also connects to your smartphone, letting you log measurements and share them via social media. It will even let you work with dimensions in drawings and maps. Further, even if you don’t have a phone, you can use blinking light intervals for grids and rough measurements.
