Samsung just unveiled a cute little router that has a long name but packs a smart home hub as well. According to Engadget, the ‘Connect Home Smart Wi-Fi System’ removes the need for a separate SmartThings Hub, making it more than just an ordinary router. The router already comes with a SmartThings hub built in. This means it can communicate with gadgets over Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, Zigbee or Z-wave. Further, it can communicate with your Philips Hue lights, Netgear Arlo security cameras or Samsung appliances. You just need to set it up, and you can then control all your connected devices via an app.
Samsung is selling the router in packs of three because it supports mesh networking. So, you use one as a base to broadcast your signal, and the other two extend that network throughout your house. Every piece has a range of 1,500 square feet.
