Google and Facebook are set to combat fake news with some new moves. NDTV reports that while Google has now taken its ‘fact check’ tags – which were earlier limited only to the US and UK – the global way, Facebook has introduced some new fake news-combating tools.
Search major Google is not just making its fact-checking feature a global tool, but is also expanding it to its search results. So, the company will now show you whether an article is factually correct or not by tagging it with the ‘Fact Check’ label in search results. On the other hand, Facebook has now introduced an ‘awareness display’ for users’ News Feed, that lets them “access a dedicated area that includes tips for identifying and reporting false information.” This tool is now available in the US, France and a dozen other countries.
