According to a new report from Strategy Analytics, Xiaomi is now the most preferred smartphone brand for Indian Android users. NDTV reports that this ranking is in terms of brands that users are looking to to upgrade their smartphones in 2017. Strategy Analytics notes that the Chinese electronics giant topped the preferred brands chart for the next smartphone purchase, with a 26% share, followed by Samsung and Apple. However, the latter two are on par with each other, both with a 12% share. It is also important to note that Micromax fared the worst, with a share of 2%.
This is the very first time Xiaomi has topped the charts as the most preferred choice for Indians while upgrading. The stats are based on questions asked by the analytics firm to an Android panel. Further, Rajeev Nair, senior analyst, Strategy Analytics, added,
Xiaomi, for the first time since it started operations in the Indian market, was ranked among the top three vendors in Q4 2016.
