According to a new report from CyberMedia Research, Samsung, Intex and Rising Star are the top three original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India. NDTV reports that as per the firm, 48 OEMs and third-party manufacturers made mobile handsets in the country during Q4, 2016. At the same time, 40 original design manufacturers (ODMs) supplied to brands selling in India. Commenting on the stats, Faisal Kawoosa, Principal Analyst, Industry Intelligence Practice at CMR, said,
The positive thing about ‘Make in India’, of attracting foreign OEMs to assemble/manufacture in India, has been progressively achieved.”
The report also said that Samsung is the leading ODM for overall mobile phones, as well as smartphones in India. The Korean giant is followed by Intex and Vivo, the other two ODMs to make it to the top three in terms of overall handsets and smartphones, respectively. Meanwhile, Rising Star ranked as the leading third-party manufacturer.
